Sion - Cabane du Prabe
The Hike
Not our first hike since we got to Europe, but the first one for which I’m getting my act together and blog about it :) After spending a great week in Switzerland with family, the wife-woman and I visited a friend from AUS in his new home in Sion. Neither of us had been to the French part of Switzerland before - what a stunning location it was! A mix of mediteranian and french flair, with a bit of US-midwest vibes all wrapped in mountains and general swiss-ness! Stunning!
Anyway - our main Saturday activity was a hike up to Cabane du Prabe - a beautiful hut on top of a mountain. The path to the hut? Think Mt Bogong in the VIC Alps. Just go 5km straight, but up. Basically one never-ending ridge to fight uphil - and later downhill as well!
But the views on top - worth it!!!
High Points
Quite literally, the high point! Overlooking the valley from the top, the world so small beneath your feet, the blue skies and the other huge mountains and glaciers in the distance. What a sight!
Low Points
It was very hot and exhausting :) And I think towards the end there, both Emi and myself ended up with some blisters.
