Sampling the Kepler - Fiordland
The Hike
I fondly remember the time I was touring NZ with my dad, stumbled upon Te Anau and decided to go for the Kepler. This was many moons ago. Unfortunately, this time, there wasn’t enough time to give this one another shot. Good thing too, apparently the snow was still waist high beyond Luxmore Hut…
In the end, this was a nice easy walk through the beautiful forest that starts off the Kepler track. It runs along the lake shore with the vibrant green of the forest, the multitude of little creeks and the snow-capped mountains in the distance - it very much reminded me of Finland and a bit of Austria.
High Points
This track is super well maintained and the forest is just stunningly beautiful
Low Points
The feeling of having to turn around before things got really intersting - I really want to give this full trail another go!
